Julia E. (Benner) Westley, 91, wife of the late William H. Westley, of Macungie, formerly of Emmaus; passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014 in Lehigh Commons.
Born in Sumneytown, she was a daughter of the late Edwin B. and Meda (Erdman) Benner.
She was a graduate of East Greenville High School and Drexel University then worked as a dietician and home economics teacher for many years in her field before retiring.
She was a founder and charter member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit in Emmaus.
She was a member of Perkiomen Chapter #318 Order of the Eastern Star, Red Hill and also the Daughter’s of the American Revolution.
Surviving are two daughters, Meda A., wife of Michael A. Henry of Wescosville and Jane B., wife of Gary W. Oplinger of Nazareth; four grandchildren, Matthew Henry and wife, Breanna of Allentown, Andrew Henry and fiancée of Angela Smith of Breinigsville and Jeffrey and Gregory Oplinger of Nazareth. Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by two brothers, Paul E. Benner and Edwin E. Benner.
Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9 to 9:45 a.m. with an Eastern Star Funeral Service at 9:45 a.m. and followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 South Cedar Crest Boulevard, Emmaus with Rev. Ric Elliott officiating. Burial follows in New Goshenhoppen Cemetery, East Greenville. Arrangements are by Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville.
