John Walsh

November 19, 1932 — May 22, 2021

John R. Walsh, 88, of Perkiomenville, PA, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 22, 2021 while residing at Hidden Meadows on the Ridge in Sellersville, PA. He was the widower of Elizabeth R. “Betty” (McDermott) Walsh with whom he intensely loved and has deeply missed since her passing in 2015.

Born in Maple Shade, NJ to the late John J. and Margaret C. (Schmutz) Walsh, John grew up the third of four children, a sister Marge (Kaminski), and brothers Daniel and Thomas, on East Linwood Avenue. John and his family vacationed each summer in Strathmere, NJ where he was a lifeguard. He was a 1950 Graduate of Camden Catholic High School and earned a master’s degree in Human Services from Lincoln University. John was a machinist and partner of Brandywine Products, Inc. located in North Wales, PA.

John previously a long-time parishioner of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Bally, PA remained active and was a fourth-degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, Council #1675 of Bally. Recalling his fondness for the Traditional Latin Mass, he joined Saint Stephen of Hungary Catholic Church in Allentown where he has been a faithful member.

During his life, he generously shared his love, faith, and wisdom with all who were so fortunate to meet him. He was an avid outdoorsman and captained his own sailing vessel, navigated the skies as a private pilot and shared is love of giving as a Santa Clause (lookalike) to his family, friends and those most in need.
He is survived by his children, Thomas, Theresa (John) Prykowski, John (Bridget), James (Terri), Joseph (Lynne), Daniel (Michele), Michael (Debbie), and Patrick. He is preceded in death by his wife Betty, daughter Linda, and grandson Joseph. Always with more children on the way, there are 31 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. He was an honorary father and grandfather to many others.

Family and Friends will be received at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041 on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, from 7:00pm-8:30pm Again, on Thursday, May 27, 2021 from 9:45am to 10:45am at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 610 Pine Street, Bally, PA which will be followed by a Requiem Mass at 11:00 am with Interment immediately following at the Most Blessed Sacrament Cemetery.
