John Albert Smith, 60, of Pennsburg, Pa, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at St. Luke’s Hospital- Upper Bucks Campus.

Born on July 23, 1961 in West Chester, PA, he was the son of the late John E. and Pearl A. (Carrigan) Smith.

John was a graduate of East High School in West Chester and also attended West Chester University majoring in physical medicine. He was employed at Paoli Hospital for 23 years and in that time, his career advanced him through various positions. Most recently he was a very dedicated employee of Omni Courier in Malvern, PA as a dispatcher.

To his friends, John was affectionately known as “Animal” or “Smoke”. He was a racing enthusiast who loved to be at the racetrack and especially enjoyed being around his racing friends that ultimately became family. In addition to racing, he loved watching ice hockey, horse racing, lover of animals and was a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He looked forward to building his strength daily at the gym. John was also a very spiritual man who found peace in his Bible and listening to gospel music.

John is survived by many family members who love him, as well as his adopted family, the Saracino’s and his beloved racing family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 12:00pm at Grandview Racetrack located at 43 Passmore Road Bechtelsville, PA 19505 at Turn 4. John would want friends and family in jeans and a racing shirt. Feel free to tailgate and celebrate afterward.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041 to help his family offset funeral expenses.
