John T. Schnabel, 84, of Red Hill, widower of Loretta M. (Jones) Schnabel, passed away, Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Pennsburg Manor.
Born in Shamrock, PA, he was a son of the late Henry M. and Beatrice M. (Cummings) Schnabel, Sr..
John was a proud veteran of the United States Army and active in the Red Hill Fire Company as a Fire Policeman for 40 years. He was also a custodian for the Upper Perkiomen High School for 15 years before retiring in 2012. Prior to that, he was a machinist for the former Elastic Fabric of America in Fort Washington for 14 years and for RayFlex in Red Hill for many years.
Surviving are his daughter, Patricia Keller and her husband, Rick of Quakertown; a granddaughter, Krystal Krewson and her husband, Tyler of Pennsburg; four great-grandchildren, Koy, Koen, Konor and Kali; and a sister, Florence Moser of Kutztown.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by two brothers, Henry M. Schnabel, Jr. and James Schnabel and four sisters, Dorothy Schnabel, Mary Walters, Hilda Schnabel and Pearl Schnabel.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041 with Rev. Rebecca Schanely officiating. A burial will follow in Frieden’s Union Cemetery, Sumneytown. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the services.
