John Dykie, 98, widower of Mary (Kozak) Dykie, residing at Dykie’s Corner from 1916 until moving into Pennsburg Manor where he passed away on Friday, January 8, 2010.
Born in Clifton Heights, PA, he was a son of the late Mike and Mary (Tara) Dykie.
He was employed as a die caster at Doehler-Jarvis in Pottstown, PA for over 36 years retiring in 1970.
He was a founder and longtime member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Pennsburg. He loved to Polka and was a member of the Polkateer Pals, was an avid collector of book matches and piano rolls and enjoyed hunting, photography and traveling in his earlier years.
Surviving is his daughter, Sandra Dale, widow of Dr. James Dale of Quakertown, PA; 4 sisters, Katherine Kerivel of Pennsburg, PA, Anna Hoffman of Perkiomenville and Genevieve Husted and Stella Roney, both of Perkiomenville, PA and 2 grandchildren, Ashley Dale and Joanna Mangan. Along with his wife and parents, he is predeceased by 3 infant sons, Nicholas, Raymond and Walter Dykie and 2 brothers, Peter and George Dykie.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA with Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 Wednesday at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA. A private interment will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg, PA.
