John Beadencup

March 18, 1953 — September 12, 2016

CMCS (SCW) John N. Beadencup, 63, husband of Carol Lynn (Weidman) of Gilbertsville, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at Einstein Medical Center in Montgomery County. John and Carol would have celebrated 39 years of marriage on March 4, 2017.

John was born in West Reading, PA. He was the son of the late John E. and Joan S. (Matz) Beadencup.

After graduating from Central Dauphin East High in 1971, he enlisted as a Seabee in the Navy and began his career on August 26, 1971, proudly serving his country until he retired as a Construction Mechanic Senior Chief November 30, 1993. After graduating from boot camp, John began his training on the Seabee Base in Davisville, Rhode Island. Upon completion of A School, he was assigned to the Naval Communications Station in Adak, Alaska. His next assignment was the Amphibious Construction Battalion (Beachmasters) located in Coronado, California. Upon being a little homesick, John received orders to the Navy Recruiting District in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After a short time as a Navy recruiter, John then reported to the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Four in Port Hueneme, California with tours in the Pacific Rim and Europe. Rejoining his wife and children, John then reported to Commander Fleet Activities Okinawa Japan. Upon leaving Okinawa, John was assigned to the Naval Construction Training Center in Port Hueneme, California. Having to return to sea duty, John was then assigned to the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Five revisiting Okinawa and a later deployment to Puerto Rico. John’s final duty station returned him to Port Hueneme overseeing A School at the Naval Construction Training Center until his retirement.

After retiring from the Navy, he was employed at SEPTA as a maintenance supervisor in the bus division for 22 years. John was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Linglestown PA. John enjoyed bowling, reading, hunting, playing darts, and going to the shooting range with his son.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are his children, Rebekkah , wife of Douglas Fox of Pennsburg, Raechelle., wife of Jeremy Fletcher of North Vernon, IN, ETC John N. Beadencup and wife, Megan of Pt. Hueneme, CA and Renee Beadencup of Gilbertsville; grandchildren, Macie Jo, Sierra, Lily-Ann, Cadence, Jacob, Dakotta, and Gaige; sisters, JoAnn Beadencup of Harrisburg and June, wife of Todd McCormick of Hummelstown; sister in law, Sharon Beadencup; and 14 nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brother James E. Beadencup.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church 81 N. Main Street, Pennsburg with Rev. Charles Romanowski officiating. Burial follows in Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newton. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday evening at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville and 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday morning at the church.
