Jean Reitnauer Fox passed away on Friday, April 26.
She was a lifelong resident of the Upper Perkiomen Valley, born in East Greenville to Clarence and Ida Reitnauer. She attended East Greenville High School, graduating in 1947, and the Kutztown State Teacher’s College, graduating in 1951. She taught elementary school for several years in East Greenville before retiring to devote herself to raising her family.
She had her first date with Harold Fox, of Pennsburg, in 1948, they were married in 1951, they celebrated 72 years of marriage last August. They moved to their first home on Jefferson Street in Red Hill in 1956 and resided in their home for more than 67 years.
She was a devoted lifelong member of the New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School, was a dedicated quilter for decades, and sang with a beautiful alto voice in the church choir for many, many years. She was possessed of an ever-present, infectious smile and always appreciated the simple beauty of life in all of its natural glory.
She is survived by her husband, and by her sister Sylvia (Robert) Cichocki of Palm. She is survived by her four children, Emily (Steve) Moyer of Pottstown, Kevin (Sarah) Fox of Broomall, Bennett (Beverly) Fox of Green Lane, and Timothy (Sandra) Fox of Springfield. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren: Erin (Robert) McConlogue of Boyertown, Rachel Slack (Cole Chester) of Bear, DE, Kyle Moyer of Broomall, Jeff (Kelly) Moyer of Malvern, Greg (Kate) Moyer of Dresher, Katherine (Peter) Ransmeier of Concord, NH, James Fox of Charlotte, NC, Madelyn Fox of Naples, FL, Elizabeth Fox of Phoenixville, Matthew (Julia) Fox of Drexel Hill, Alexander (Michelle) Fox of Havertown, Nicholas Fox of Easton, and Andrew and Michael Fox of Springfield. She is also survived by her eight great-grandchildren, James, Lucy, Theodore, Nolan, Ella, Sean, Clara, and Blake.
A memorial service will be held at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ on Friday, May 3, with visitation at 11am, and a service to follow at 1pm.
