Jasper L. “Jack” Covington, 81, husband of the late Emma Jean (Moore) Covington, and companion of Dorothy “Dolly” Holler, of Allentown and formerly of East Greenville, passed away Monday, June 30, 2014 at his home.
Born in Buena Vista, VA, he was a son of the late of Jasper J. and Mary M. (Cyrus) Covington.
He was a graduate from Coatesville High School and from Penn State with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Jack worked as an electrician for 39 ½ years, retiring in 1994 from the former Pillsbury Co.
He was a member of Palm Schwenkfelder Church, Palm; Stroudsburg Senior Citizens Center; MORA Club, Allentown; Lehigh Co. Senior Center, Allentown, where he loved to dance with Dolly. Jack was a volunteer for many years for Habitat for Humanity where he worked on many houses in the Lehigh Valley.
Jack served in the United States Navy Reserves during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving in addition to his companion of 10 years, are his four daughters, Sandra J., wife of Dale Paulus of Catasauqua, PA; Michele, wife of Richard Fallstich of Fountain Hill, PA; Terry A., wife of Jonathan Shelly of East Greenville, PA and Beth Ann, wife of William Miller of Allentown, PA; sister, Eva, wife of Austin Windle of Thorndale, PA; eight grandchildren, Craig, Kellie, Caryn, Robert, Lauren, Steven, Joshua, and Caleb; seven great-grandchildren, Jacob, Emmalee, Katilyn, Aidan, Collin, Jordyn and Carlie. He was predeceased by siblings, Harry, Allen and Clinton Covington, Vivian Morris, Gladys Schlimme and Dorothy Clifton.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041 With Rev. Ron Krick officiating. There will be viewing from 10 am until 11 am, Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Palm Schwenkfelder Cemetery, Palm, PA.
