James Morett

January 20, 1947 — March 23, 2025

James John Morett, 78, passed away Sunday 23 March 2025, surrounded by his family. Known as Pigeon, to his friends, he was truly one of a kind. Born in Philadelphia in 1947 to Chalmers and Eleanor (Seely) Morett, he attended Lansdowne Alden High School and began his working career at the Troop Farm in Newtown Square. Here, he not only played cowboy, he lived it - breaking horses, riding bulls in rodeos, and sometimes finding himself face down in horse manure. In his teenage years, he met the love of his life, Mary Wright, and was married by age 20.

He worked as an electrical lineman out of Ardmore, PA, then later in New York, California, and Minnesota, eventually settling into a long career in Tucson, AZ, for Trico Electric.

His life saw more adventures than any newspaper could withstand, and his storytelling was second to none in both length and amazement. Perhaps no person had a greater love for canines, wolves, mules, and horses. He asked that his ashes be scattered next to his favorite dog, Henry David Thudreau.

He was the loving father and cared deeply for his sons, Matthew and wife Sherri, James and wife Sheena, his granddaughter Taryn, his step-grandchildren Jimi and his wife Danielle, Jeffrey and his wife Samantha, Jordan and her husband Michael Rehak, his step-great grandchildren, Emma, Carter, Juniper and Ruby. He is also survived by his loving siblings, twin sister Janice Greller and husband Chuck, brother Donald and his wife Ann, Charlene Curtis-Morett and her husband Doug, his brother Jeffrey and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brothers Charles and Daniel.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later time.
