James W. Howard, 80, of Zionsville, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 2, 2021 at his home. He was the husband of Beverly I. (Kautz) Howard, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Born in Johnstown, he was the son of the late James D. and Alda G. (Wertz) Howard. After graduating from Johnstown High School, he earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from The University of Pittsburgh. He worked 30 years at PPL where he developed a testing center and retired in 1996. He and Beverly were dedicated members of Salem Bible Church, Macungie, PA. He served as a Deacon and drove in their bus ministry. He also served in the children’s ministry for over 40 years as well as teaching math, science and robotics for Salem Christian School. He also was involved in Puppet PALS for 30 plus years. He and Beverly enjoyed traveling the world doing puppet workshops.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: Beth A., wife of Rev. Kevin Schultz, of East Greenville; and son, Rev. James W. II, husband of Olya Howard, of Allentown; one sister: Karen, widow of Robert Hufman, of Somerset; and grandchildren: Megan King, Philip Schultz, and Christian, Julia, Iliana and Amelia Howard.
Viewings will be held at Salem Bible Church, 8031 Salem Bible Church Rd., Macungie, PA 18062 on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 7-8:30 PM and Wednesday 10-10:45 AM with services to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem Christian School at the above address.
