James E. Hess, 52, husband of Joan M. (Schoenly) Hess, of Barto died Friday, June 25, 2010 at home with his wife and daughter by his side after a battle with Lymphoma. He and his wife were married 33 years on May 21st.
Born in Alburtis, he was a son of the late Earl J. and Myrle E. (Rudolph) Hess. He worked the past 9 years in inventory control at Penske Truck Leasing, Reading. Prior to that he worked 19 years at A. W. Mercer, Boyertown and 6 years at Bercon Packaging, East Greenville. He was a 1976 graduate of Brandywine Heights High School and was a life member of both Pike Township Sportsman’s Association, Oley and Keystone Fire Company, Boyertown.
Survivors: Wife; daughter Jamie Lynn, wife of David Johns of Barto; two brothers Richard Hess of Maryland and Lee Hess of Alburtis; six sisters Doris, wife of Joseph Benfield of Bechtelsville, Myrle Batdorf of Pottstown, Nancy, wife of Richard Lord of Alburtis, June, wife of Steven Reed of Oley, Terry Taylor, companion of Barry Inman of Birdsboro, and Dawn, wife of George Hoffman of Avoca, NY and two granddaughters, Samantha Marie and Rebecca Lynn Johns. He was predeceased by a brother, Earl Hess and a sister, Dolores Script.
Services: A memorial service will be held 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville with the Rev. William A. Fluck officiating.
