Ilah May (Simpkins) Fisher, 99, widow of Henry Morris Fisher, of Frederick, formerly of Green Lane, died Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Frederick Living.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Warren J. and Hazel (Hitner) Simpkins.
She worked as a registered nurse at the office of Dr.'s Kistler and Cleaver and as an in-home private duty nurse for many years. She was a member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and taught confirmation classes in the 1970’s. She is well known for being very hospitable and caring on the family farm, she enjoyed hauling and stacking firewood with her husband and is remembered for cutting and selling 100 cords of wood for three consecutive years. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, working on the farm, writing letters, and sharing stories. But, most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are a son, Conrad H. Fisher and wife, Bonnie, of Green Lane; a daughter, Gail F. Dill and husband, Frank, Jr., of Boyertown; a sister, Grace W. Hamm of North Carolina; four grandchildren, Catherine, Kacy, Frank, III, and Conrad, Jr.; and eight great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Peter, Thomas, Kieran, Teagan, Kaiden, Zoe and Riley.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Ilah; sisters, Hazel, Dorothy, and Florence; and brothers, Harry and Warren.
A funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville, PA, with Rev. Dr. Deborah Rahn Clemens officiating. The calling hour will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in New Goshenhoppen UCC Cemetery.
