Ikbal (Kit) Kamel Reed, resident of Maple Glen, PA, passed away on June 14, 2022. Born and raised in Assiut, Egypt, Kit was the first daughter of Kamel Elias and Esther Morcos. Kit graduated with a degree in English from Cairo University, and taught English in Assiut for three years afterward. She married John M. Reed, the son of missionary parents, in Cairo, Egypt, in 1962, and has lived in the US since then. Kit is survived and dearly loved by her husband John; her two sons, David K. Reed and Christopher P. Reed; Alyssa S. Reed, David’s wife, and her granddaughters Katherine, Rachel, Samantha and Elizabeth Reed; and her two sisters, Nabila Elias and Mona Elias. She is predeceased by her brother Raouf Elias.
John and Kit are long-time members of Supplee Presbyterian Church in Maple Glen. An active, outgoing housewife and mother, Kit enjoyed playing tennis and bridge and for a number of years owned her own baking business. Love of family, joy with friends and serving others through her church were her priorities throughout life.
A memorial service and burial for Kit will be at the Salem United Methodist Church in Powder Valley on Saturday, June 25th at 11:00 a.m., near the Reed family home in Zionsville, PA. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be sent to Habitat for Humanity (www.habitat.org).
