Homer Hoffman

Homer S. Hoffman, 78, of County Line Road, Barto died Friday, May 18, 2012 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest. He was the husband of Shirley K. (Bernhard) Hoffman, celebrating 56 years of marriage on June 11, 2011.

Born in Barto, he was a son of the late Ammon and Addie (Stengel) Hoffman.

He was the Service Manager for Boyertown Oil Company for 10 years retiring in 1998. He previously had worked for Swann Oil for 9 years and William R. Gift Oil Company for 26 years.

Homer was a member of Christ Mertz Lutheran Church and the Bally Sportmens Association. He was also a life member of both Pike Township Sportsmens Association and the Sassamansville Fire Company.

Surviving along with his wife, are five children, Beverly A., wife of Dale A. Leister of Mertztown, Bryan H. Hoffman and wife, Marcia A. of Boyertown, Timothy S. Hoffman and wife, Nadine S. of Bechtelsville, Penny L., wife of Frederick W. Ziegler of Barto and Cory A. Hoffman and wife, Lynette M. Barto; siblings, Mabel Schultz of Frederick, Stanley Hoffman and wife, Betty of Boyertown and Verna, wife of Stanley Kleinsmith of Emmaus; 9 grandchildren, Blake Leister, Nicole Whitehead, Kyle, Kelly and Drew Hoffman, Dana Van Nostrand, Noah and Brent Ziegler and Cory Hoffman, Jr. and a great granddaughter, Addison Hoffman.

He is predeceased by a brother, Walter Hoffman; 4 half brothers, Ralph and Chester Weller and Russel and Ernie Hoffman and a half-sister, Edna Wagner.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Christ Mertz Lutheran Church, 16 Fleetwood Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Interment will follow in Christ Union Cemetery, Niantic. A viewing will be held 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday morning at the church. Arrangements are by Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home. Share words of comfort at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
