Harvey W. Scholl, M.D., 99, widower of Myrtle B. (Bitting) Scholl, formerly of East Greenville died on June 9, 2011 in Rockhill Mennonite Community, Sellersville.
Born in Kulpsville, PA, he was a son of the late Ada (Undercofler) and Henry N Scholl, M.D.
He was a local physician running his family practice along with his wife from his home on Fifth Street in East Greenville retiring in 1986 at age 75. He served on the staff of both Allentown and Grand View Hospitals and was the school physician.
He was Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II in Italy and North Africa.
He was a 1929 graduate of East Greenville High School, a 1933 graduate of Ursinus College, a 1937 graduate of Jefferson Medical College and interned at Allentown Hospital.
He was a member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ and Indian Valley Country Club and was an avid bass fisherman traveling to Canada, an avid gardener and growing award winning tomatoes, an expert billiard player, an avid golfer and avid Phillies and Eagles fan. He also had been a semi-professional baseball player.
Surviving are three children, Joanne L. Kistler-Gruver and husband, Eugene of York, Elizabeth A. Kloiber and husband, James of Chocowinity, NC and Dr. Harvey W. Scholl, Jr. and wife Deborah of East Greenville; 14 grandchildren, Amy Kistler Gunarich and husband, Andrew, Dr. Meg Kistler Figdore and husband, Christopher, Dr. Douglas G. Kistler and wife, Melissa, Jay Tindall and wife, Laguya, Marcia Tindall Palluzzi and husband, Jake, Ellen Scholl Floyd and husband, Walter, Annmarie Scholl McShea and husband, James, Harvey M. Scholl and wife, Laurie, Daniel W. Scholl and wife, Gwendolyn, David R. Scholl and wife, Debora, Rebekah S. Scholl, Gregory N. Scholl and wife, Teresa, Melissa Scholl Furey and husband, Patrick, and Kaitlyn L. Scholl; 4 step-grandchildren, Jeffrey Gruver and wife, Vicktoria, Beth Anne Bailey, Stephen Gruver and wife, Rae Ann and Jeanne Marie Doll and husband, Brian and 22 great grandchildren. Along with his wife and parents, he is predeceased by two brothers, Henry Undercofler Scholl and James Albert Scholl.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville with Rev. James Roth officiating. Interment is in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church parlor. Funeral arrangements are by the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home.
