Harry B.F. Wetzel, 90, of Barto, passed away, Thursday, April 27, 2017. He was the husband of Helen M. (Freimann) Wetzel celebrating 69 years of marriage this past August 23rd.
Born in Barto, PA, he was the son of the late Morris E. and Lena May (Folk) Wetzel.
He worked at Bally Case and Cooler for over 45 years until his retirement in 1992.
He was in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign in World War II where he received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Union Church in Macungie and a lifelong member of Sassamansville Fire Company and Goodwill Fire Company in Bally.
Along with his wife, he is survived by six children, Perry Wetzel and wife, Carol of Linfield, Jerry Wetzel and wife, Debra of Boyertown, Beverly Melcher of Barto, Barney Wetzel and wife, Cheryl of Birdsboro, Linda Wetzel of Phoenixville and Diana, wife of Paul Dugan of Barto; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Mae Hoffman and Minerva Merkel.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by a son, Dennis Wetzel; a daughter, Donna Kramer; and his brother Erwin Wetzel.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at St. Peter’s Union Church, 7863 St. Peters Road, Macungie, PA 18062 with Rev. Jerel Gade officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
