Harry R. “Stoney” Stone, Sr., passed away at the age of 92 on August 12, 2023 at the Topton Lutheran Home where he resided since 2018. He was formerly of Eichele Road in Perkiomenville since 1968 where he lived with his loving wife Ann-Jean of 62 years, she sadly departed in 2016.
Born in Modena, PA on August 26, 1930 to the late Ella (Wolfe) and Harry Stone, he was one of seven children. He is survived by sister Barbara Meinzer of Levittown and predeceased by brothers Fred and Richard and sisters Anna Fines, Doris Doster, and Janet Oser.
A resident of Edgeley, PA, he graduated from Pennsbury High School in 1949. He felt honored to be inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame as a leader in four sports in 2015.
A B36 engine mechanic of the 5th Air Force 72nd Wing, Strategic Air Command, he was proud to be one of the "first boys to wear blue."
Establishing a career in the automotive industry he was co-owner of Stoney and Bobs Repairs in Levittown along with Bob Richard and employed by Heaveners Garage in the 1950's. In 1964 he started his career as the Service Manager at C&C Ford/ Chapman Ford in Horsham and Carr Ford in Chestnut Hill for almost half a century. He helped many establish their careers, a man of integrity he built lifelong friendships.
Stoney's passion was auto racing. Sought out by Nascar legend Fred Lorenzen. They rebuilt his engine and won a USAC race at Langhorne Speedway in 1958. He was one of Fred's first pit crew members helping him to success in the 1960's. Stoney was thrilled to be a part of Fred's induction into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2015.
He returned to racing helping the BLC race team, Rick Schaeffer and Fred Rahmer and sons Freddie and Brandon at Grandview, Lincoln, and Williams Grove race tracks.

He is survived by his children, Mark Stone and wife, Janice of Barto, Harry “Bud” Stone Jr. and wife, Lisa of Harleysville, Blake Stone and wife, Linda of Boyertown, Dawn, wife of Edward Burgess of Virginville and Dee-Ann, wife of Tom Renninger of Green Lane; grandchildren, Bart and Billy Burgess, Corinne Stone-Casatelli, Samantha Stone-Welch, Ryan Stone, Tommy and Randy Renninger; 10 great-grandchildren and a sister, Barbara Minzer.
There will be a visitation from 10 to 11:30 AM with a service to follow on Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041.
