Harold Oelschlager

January 10, 1927 — January 21, 2012

Harold B. Oelschlager, 85, husband of Victoria Jean (Stepien) of Upper Salford Twp., married 59 years last June, died on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Rock Hill Mennonite Community.

Born in Norristown, he was a son of the late Wallace S. and Verna (Brendlinger) Oelschlager.

He worked for 39 years in Quality Control at Superior Tube, retiring in 1989. He was a member of Advent Lutheran Church where he worshiped and belonged to Prime Timers of Advent Lutheran Church and was a social member of the Lower Frederick Fire Company. Harold enjoyed his family and spent his life caring for and sharing with family members in many ways. After his retirement, he spent many hours tinkering in his garage, fixing up his antique vehicles a 1926 Model T and a 1963 convertible Falcon which he often showed at local car shows and the Salfordville Fourth of July parade. He built a small cabin on property in Susquehanna County and enjoyed weekend trips to the woods with family and friends. When he became a full-time “Grandpop” soon after his retirement, he was able to participate actively in the lives of his seven grandchildren. His love of family history and gift for telling stories always made for interesting visits with Grandpop O.

Surviving along with his wife, are four children, Lou Ann Pullen and husband, Robert of Harleysville, Dawn M. Dattola and husband, Al of Prescott, AZ, Carole S. Sabatine and husband, Paul of Windsor, NY, Thomas A. Oelschlager and wife, Brenda of Sellersville; seven grandchildren, Aaron, Jacob, Julia and Lydia Sabatine, Andrew Pullen, Brianna and Patrick Oelschlager.

Harold was predeceased by an infant daughter, Nancy Jean Oelschlager and two brothers, Wallace, Jr. and Kenneth Oelschlager.
