Harold K. Mensch, 88, husband of Virginia G. (Specht) Mensch, of Douglassville, PA, formerly of Pennsburg, PA died October 25, 2009 at Reading Hospital. He and his wife were married 62 years on May 10, 2009.
Born in Pennsburg, PA he was a son of the late Elias and Eva Esther (Christman) Mensch.
He was a Press Operator at C & D Batteries, East Greenville for many years before retiring. Prior to that he worked at the former Pennsburg Clothing Company for many years.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Red Hill, PA. He was also a member of Pennsburg Fire Company were he served as a volunteer fireman for many years. He was an avid bowler and bowled on the Quaker Maid Kitchens team at East Greenville Fire Company, loved gardening and was active in the Developmental Activity Center in Kulpsville, PA.
Surviving along with his wife are 2 sons, Gary L. Mensch and wife, Lynda N. of Reading, PA and Kevin S. Mensch and wife, Kelly J. of Emmaus, PA; 3 brothers, Larry Mensch of Douglassville, PA, Clarence Mensch of Barto, PA and Ernest Mensch of Red Hill, PA; 2 sisters, Mary Miller Frielle of Bradenton, FL and Esther Renninger of Sassamansville, PA and 3 grandchildren, Michael A. Mensch, Ashley McManus and Kacie McManus. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by 2 sons, Ronald and Donald Mensch and 7 brothers and sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 30, 2009 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Church and Frye Roads, Red Hill, PA with Rev. William A. Vanderslice officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at church.
