Harold F. Bower, 90, widower of Betty M. (Jones) Bower, formerly of Red Hill, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015, at Frederick Living.
Born in Seisholtzville, he was a son of the Late John S. and Sallie G. (Fry) Bower.
Harold was a farmer his whole life and also worked as a core maker at Unicast Foundry in Boyertown for 35 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving as a truck driver in the 1877th Engineer Aviation Battalion during World War II.
Harold was a member of Huff’s Union Church in Alburtis. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #184 in East Greenville, the VFW #5954 in Red Hill, the East Greenville Fire Company, as well as the Disabled American Veterans Association in Allentown.
Surviving are his son, Glenn T. Bower and wife, Patricia of Pennsburg, and daughter, Gail T. Korszniak and husband, Peter, of Red Hill; two granddaughters, Amy Knause of East Greenville, and Teresa Severence of Etters; and five great-grandchildren, Jessica and Kyle Knause, and Garrett, Dylan and Riley Severance. Along with his wife and parents, he was predeceased by six brothers, Peter, Lloyd, Wilmer, Lester, Daniel and Paul, and two sisters, Mae Graber and Helen Bower.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA with Rev. Jane Moffett Kropa, of Huff’s Union Church, officiating. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home, prior to the service.
