Grace Viola (Schoenly) Schantz Smith, 93, of Dodgeville, Wisconsin, formerly of East Greenville, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016 in Upland Hills Health Center, Dodgeville, WI. She was the widow of John D. Schantz and James A. Smith, Sr.
Born in Niantic, PA, she was a daughter of the late Claude B. and Louise R. (Rauch) Schoenly.
Grace was a hairdresser and owner of the Grace V. Smith Beauty Salon for over 30 years retiring in 1998.
She was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Pennsburg.
Surviving are 6 children, Judith G., wife of Arthur Trumbore of Sumneytown, Gerald J. Schantz and wife, Sandra of Hummelstown, James A. Smith, Jr. and wife, Charlene of Youngsville, NC, Frank J. Smith and wife, Debbie of East Greenville, Claudette J., wife of Richard Owenby of Clyde, NC and Luther B. Smith and wife, Eileen of Mineral Point, WI; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Along with her parents and husbands, she is predeceased by a sister, Ellen Faut.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA with Rev. Charles E. Romanowski officiating. Burial follows in St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
