Grace A. (Sterner) Shirey, 90, widow of Earl W. Shirey, Sr., of Pottstown and formerly of Gilbertsville, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014 in Sanatoga Center, Pottstown.
Born in Earl Township, PA, she was a daughter of the late John E. and Alice (Ehst) Sterner.
She was a graduate of Boyertown High School.
Grace worked for the former Tung Sol Co. where she manufactured headlights and retired from the former Boyertown Casket Company.
Grace is a member of Church of the Good Shepherd United Church of Christ of Boyertown and attended New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ of East Greenville.
Surviving are three children, Janet L., wife of Raymond Groff of Boyertown; Gloria A., wife of Frank Eidle of Barto; and Earl W. Shirey, Jr. and wife, Eileen of Barto; a brother, Robert Sterner and wife, Alice of Boyertown; five grandchildren, Dwayne, Dean, Christine, James and Christopher; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, William and John Sterner and a granddaughter Rachel.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Church of the Good Shepherd UCC, 35 W. Philadephia Ave, Boyertown, PA 19512 with Rev. Lori Esslinger officiating. Burial follows in New Goshenhoppen Cemetery of East Greenville, PA. Family and friends are invited to a viewing 10 am until 11 am on Thursday at the church.
