Gerald “Jerry” C. Weisel, 76, husband of Carolyn L. (Marks) Weisel, of East Greenville, passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. Gerald and Carolyn celebrated 56 years of marriage on September 24, 2016.
Born in Milford Township, he was the son of the late Alvin and Alverda (Miller) Weisel.
He graduated from Quakertown High School in 1958 and then served in the National Guard for 6 years. He was a lighting specialist for US Guage Ametek where he did background lighting for aircraft instruments for 42 years before retiring at age 62.
Jerry served 12 years on the Upper Hanover Zoning board, was a prior member of the Hereford Rod and Gun Club and was a member of New Goshenhoppen UCC. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed hiking, working on cars and gardening. He was famous for is Tomato plants.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 56 years, are his children, Dianne R., wife of Kevin Hurrey of East Greenville and Glenn Alan Weisel and wife, Kathlene of East Greenville; grandchildren, Karissa, Cody, Colin and Dylan and siblings Grace MacDonald of Leesburg, VA and Willard Weisel of Sellersville.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Franklin Weisel.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA with Rev. Dr. Deborah Rahn Clemens officiating. Burial will be followed at New Goshenhoppen Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Offer sympathy to the family at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
