George H. Shewell, Jr., 91, of Red Hill, passed away on June 1, 2013 at Pennsburg Manor.
He was the loving husband for 48 years to Agnes (Patson) Shewell, who passed aways in 1995.
Born in Green Lane, he was a son of the late George H., Sr and Myrtle (Snyder) Shewell.
George worked for 45 years as a Supervisor of tool and dye department at Synthane - Taylor Fiber Co., Valley Forge where he retired in 1984.
He was veteran of the United States Army, where he served during World War II in the pacific theatre at Pearl Harbor, from 1942 to 1945.
He was a lifelong huntsman and an avid fisherman. He was as much at home in the deep woods of Canada, as in his profession or with his family.
George was a lifelong member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Pennsburg and a member of American Legion Post # 184, East Greenville; Green Lane Fire Co.; Boulder Valley Sportsmen; and the Upper Perkiomen Senior Center.
He is survived by his daughters, Jacquelyn A. Ganter (companion Paul Clemmer), Pennsburg and Jill M. Roth and husband Tod, Leesport; brother, Thomas Shewell, Pennsburg; sister, Margaret Duklas, Pennsburg; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Jesse, Raymond and Richard Shewell.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA with Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating.
