Genevieve “Gen” (Dykie) Husted, 94, wife of the late Richard S. Husted, Sr., who died in 1985, of Perkiomenville, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on Sunday, April 13, 2014.
Daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Tara) Dykie, “Gen” lived her entire life on Hill Road, Perkiomenville.
She was a State Archery champion in 1955 – 1956. She learned to ski at age 55 and went on several ski trips to Colorado and Utah when she was in her 70’s. Gen loved to cook and could make anything taste delicious.
She took pride in her yard and was always planting flowers and shrubs.
Gen worked at the former Rosenau Brothers, Red Hill and was employed at Plummer Precision Optics until her retirement in 1975.
She loved her family immensely, always putting their needs in front of her own. God blessed us with a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a lifelong member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Pennsburg.
She is survived by her three children, Richard Husted and wife, Marilyn, Cazenovia, NY; Mary Ann, wife of Richard Patterson, Exton, PA and Bonnie, wife of Donald Ritter, Boyertown, PA. She was “Nana” to 8 grandchildren, Sara, wife of Scott D’Andrea; Alison, wife of Alex Dyer; Richard Patterson; Bradley Husted and wife, Megan; Ryan Patterson and his wife, Megan; Erin, wife of Robert Riegel; Holly, wife of John Keebler; and Rachel, wife of Brian Murphy; 13 great-grandchildren, Katherine, Claire and Nora D’Andrea, Audrey and Tommy Dyer, Carter, Andrew and Chase Husted, Bryce Patterson, Robert “RJ” and Samantha Riegel and Ella and Ava Keebler; sisters, Anna Hoffman and Stella Roney, Perkiomenville, PA and a sister-in-law, Sondra Dykie, Perkiomenville, PA. Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, John, Peter and George Dykie and a sister, Kathrine Kerivel. A special thanks to her caregivers, Carol, Deana, Stacy, Rachel and Kath.
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 21, 2014 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1359 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA with Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. There will be a viewing 9:00 am until 10:30 am Monday, at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg, PA.
