Frank Weisbecker

October 9, 1934 — March 11, 2017

Frank D. Weisbecker, 82, of Pennsburg, Pa passed away quietly at his home in Upper Hanover Township on March 11. 2017, surrounded by his family. Frank was born on October 9, 1934 to the late Frank and Mary (Starry) Weisbecker of Glenside Pa and graduated from Abington High School.

Prior to moving to Pennsburg in 1983, Frank and his loving wife Edith Mae (Hoffman) Weisbecker, lived in Lansdale, PA raising their two sons. Besides being civically involved with the North Penn YMCA and Lansdale Borough Zoning Board, Frank and Edith were avid campers and spent many weekends traveling with friends and family.

Frank also owned and was President of United Knitting Machine Company, a custom hosiery equipment maker started by his father and which later became a design and manufacturing house of specialty railcar equipment. Under his leadership, the Company eventually outgrew its Lansdale production facilities and moved to Harleysville, Pa where he retired in 1994.

After retirement, he full-filled his lifelong dream of becoming a farmer and raised livestock and vegetables for many years at his farm outside of Pennsburg. Franks greatest joys were sunny afternoons making hay, talking animal husbandry with other local farmers and working in his woodshop.

Frank was a member of Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church and served on the cemetery and other committees over the course of his 35 years living in the Upper Perkiomen Valley.

Besides his wife of almost 60 years, he is survived by his two sons, Frank Jr. and wife, Jane and Robert and wife, Susan and grandchildren, Meg, Casey, Annie, Sam, Matt and Conner.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA 18041 with Rev. Charles E. Romanowski officiating.
