Frances Wirt Fisher, 77, widow of Daniel H. Fisher, Jr., of Gwynedd Valley, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2015 at Lansdale Hospital.
Born in Sunbury, Northumberland County, PA, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin H. and Leona L. E. (Sholter) Wirt.
Frances was a 1955 Graduate of Sunbury High School and a 1960 Graduate of Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove. She earned her B.S. and then her M.S. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania in 1965.
She retired in 2009 as a Chemical Engineer from Gannett Fleming in Audubon, PA after working there for 22 years. She also had worked at Sun Oil Company in Philadelphia for many years.
Frances was a member of the Sunbury United Church of Christ, AIChE, and the Independence Seaport Museum. She was an avid reader and enjoyed visiting museums and historic sites.
Surviving is her daughter, Susan F., wife of James E. Yaroch Sr. of East Greenville; a sister, Connie, wife of Bill Bastian of Weikert, PA and two grandchildren, James E. Yaroch, Jr. and Heather L. Yaroch, both of East Greenville.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 1 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the service. Offer sympathy to the family at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com. The burial will be held in Weikert at a later date.
