Florence V. (Schantz) Steltz, 101, widow of Ira S. Steltz, of Pennsburg, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest.
Born in Emmaus, PA she was a daughter of the late Martin and Elsie (Schuler) Schantz.
She was a sewing machine operator for 47 years retiring in 1977 working 5 years at Quakertown Clothing Company and 42 years at Pennsburg Clothing Company.
She was a longtime member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ where she was an active member of Women’s Fellowship, helped with serving refreshments and enjoyed sewing for the needy.
She was also a member of the East Greenville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, the Upper Milford Western District Ladies Auxiliary, the Pennsburg Golden Agers and the Montgomery Berks Golden Agers.
Florence is survived by several cousins, step grandchildren; step great grandchildren and step great-great-grandchildren. Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Nora M. Schantz; step-children, Shirley Steltz Shade, Sarah Ritter and Harry S. Steltz.
A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, June 13, 2016 at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville with the Rev. Dr. Deborah Rahn Clemens officiating. Burial follows in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Old Zionsville. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the church.
