Faith E. Coleman, passed away peacefully in the loving care of LifeQuest Nursing Center and Grand View Hospice on April 23, 2025, at the age of 91. She was born in Cleveland, OH to Robert and Eleanor (Peabody) Elliott and raised her family in many locations across the country before later making her home in Barto, PA.
Faith was awarded her Registered Nurse Diploma at Orange Memorial Hospital School of Nursing shortly after being graduated from Sarasota High School. Known for her compassionate care and expertise, she worked tirelessly caring for our nation's service men and women battling Alzheimer's and Dementia at various Veteran's Administration Hospitals. In 1995, at the age of 62, she resolved to change her nursing specialty and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Health Arts from the College of St. Francis. She then acquired a Certification as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse, ultimately concluding her career at Catholic Charities in Philipsburg, NJ caring for individuals with significant mental health disabilities.
Married to her beloved husband, Barry Coleman, for 60 adventurous years until his passing in 2016, Faith personified the meaning of commitment and passion. Together, they built a family of whom they were immensely proud. She is survived by her five beautiful daughters: Tracy Lopez, Colleen Coleman, Katie Rountree (Stephan), Anne Jenkins (Joseph) and Grace Connelly (John); 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elspeth Abbate; and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings, Hank, Bob, Alice, Bill and Chris.
She was aptly named, as her devotion to faith was evident through the active roles she played at many of the Parishes in which she lived. During her time in Bushnell, Florida, she generously shared her belief by teaching Sunday school at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Faith was a talented seamstress and avid quilter-known for creating beautiful quilts, sweaters and children's clothing which she gifted to family and friends. Her passion for horticulture resulted in several prize-winning flower gardens. She also enjoyed playing Cribbage, teaching her great-grandchildren to play Chess, and relishing the time spent with loved ones.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville, PA (www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com).
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Grand View Hospice (www.gvh.org).
