Erta R. (Matthes) Smith, 84, of Harleysville, PA, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023 at Grand View Hospital, Sellersville, PA. She was the loving wife of Douglas W. Smith, sharing 60 years of marriage.
Born in Tüngeda, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Hilda (Kühns) Matthes.
In her younger years Erta loved to travel and especially enjoyed sailing around the Caribbean and Mediterranean Islands. She enjoyed building and decorating doll houses and putting together scrap books of her grandson’s sporting activities.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are her daughter, Kirsten Trimble of Landale; a grandson, Christopher Trimble of Kitty Hawk, NC; a sister, Isolde of Berlin, Germany; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
