Emma R. (Raudenbush) Keller, widow of Charles S. Keller, of Washington Lane, Green Lane, formerly of Havertown for 34 years, died Friday, June 3, 2011 in Grand View Hospital.
Born September 5, 1914 in Spinnerstown, PA, in the Spinner House, a residence on the National Register of Historic Places, and raised in Telford, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Jennie (Hallman) Raudenbush.
She was an accomplished artist and art teacher. A 1932 graduate of Souderton High, she attended Penn State University and then completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1938 at the Philadelphia School of the Arts (Moore Institute). She then worked at Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, NJ, Bendix Co. in Philadelphia where she prepared compasses for WW II fighter planes, as a draftsperson for Western Geophysical Seismograph Co. in Chico, CA, as a typist at Chico Air Base for the cadets and flyers, as an art teacher at several elementary schools in Havertown, and finished her career doing custom artwork at Danneman’s Fabric Store in Philadelphia, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, where she sang in the church choir and was a former longtime member of St. James United Church of Christ, Havertown, where she taught weekday kindergarten and Sunday school.
Surviving are a son, Dr. Jeffrey Keller & his wife, Dr. Lorraine Keller of Pipersville, and 2 grandchildren, Laura and Charles Keller, both of Pipersville. Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by a daughter Brenda Sue Keller, who died December 1, 1993 and an infant son.
A funeral Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011 at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville, PA, with the Rev. Dr. Deborah Rahn Clemens, Senior Pastor of the church officiating. Interment will follow in Christ Reformed Church Cemetery at Indian Creek, Telford, PA. Family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the church prior to the funeral service.
