Emil P. Ondra, 91, widower of Helen (Mitrisin) Ondra, formerly of Quakertown, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Phoebe Richland Nursing Center.
Born in Searight, PA, he was a son of the late Michael and Verna (Ondra) Ondra.
Emil served in the United States Army during WWII. He was also part of the post war occupation forces in Germany and guarded prisoners during the Nuremberg Trials. He was a carpenter, including 20 years with the Lehigh Valley Carpenter's Union, before retiring in 1990.He was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church.
Surviving are his three children, Cynthia, wife of Jeffrey Hardcastle of Quakertown, Emil M. Ondra and wife, Elizabeth of Ivyland and Rebecca Loew of Quakertown; five grandchildren, Melissa, Keri, John, Stephen and Sean; six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Aubrey, Logan, Clara, Carly and Charlotte; and a brother, Martin Ondra.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is predeceased by a daughter, Beverly Donegan; four sisters, Verna, Helen, Dorothy and Mildred; and four brothers, Michael, George, Joseph and John.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041.
