Elmer M. Wentzel, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Frederick Living where he had been residing. He was the loving husband of Jean W. (Harner) Wentzel with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
Born in Gilbertsville, he was the son of the late Elmer and Ida (Moser) Wentzel.
Elmer was a 1951 graduate of Boyertown High School. In his earlier years, he was a farmer on his family farm in Gilbertsville. Later he went on to work at the Boyertown Casket Co. as a woodworker for over 30 years and then Knolls Inc. before retiring.
He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sassamansville and enjoyed gardening and farming on his best friend’s farm. However, his greatest joy was being a pop-pop. His life was centered around his family, and he cherished every moment he was able to share with his wife, son, daughter in law, granddaughters and great-granddaughter.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jeffery Wentzel and wife, Beth; two granddaughters, Hannah Wentzel, Haley Donnelly and husband Patrick; and his beloved great-granddaughter, Rowan.
He is predeceased by two brothers and two sisters.
