Elizabeth O. (Hildebrandt) Sova, 91, of Perkiomenville, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 20, 2013 in Fort Myers, FL, after a 3 year battle against colon cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew G. Sova, in 1988 and her beloved son, Stephen, in 1974.
Born in Perkiomenville, she was a daughter of the late Adolf and Olga Hildebrandt. Her sister, Alice Uhlig and brother, Adolf Hildebrandt also predeceased her.
She graduated from the Deep Creek School 8th Grade Class in 1935 as Salutatorian of the 7 school New Hanover District.
She worked at the former Rosenau Company in Red Hill for a number of years and then at Dana Corporation in Pottstown during World War II.
After moving to Ft. Myers, FL in 2010 because of illness, to live with her daughter and son- in-law, she maintained verbal and written correspondence with her family, friends, and neighbors. While she was grateful to see her granddaughters more often, she missed the comfort of her own home in Perkiomenville, as well as her vegetable garden and flower beds, which she had spent a lifetime cultivating and sharing with others.
Known as Betty, or Aunt Betts, to her friends, nieces, and nephews, she is survived by a daughter, Alice (Harry) Griggs of Fort Myers, FL, and three adult granddaughters, Alicia (Mike) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Stephanie of Manhattan, and Andrea (Grant) of TN. They all fondly remember enthusiastically enjoying her home baked and elaborately decorated Christmas cookies as they were growing up.
A viewing will be held from 10 until 11 am with a religious service at 11 am on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, followed by burial in Friedens Union Cemetery, Sumneytown. Share memories at www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com.
