Edward W. Mikanowicz, 86, widower of Mary Jean (Dore) Mikanowicz of Perkiomenville, died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem.
Born in Perkiomenville, PA, he was a son of the late Theodore and Josephine (Syzyska) Mikanowicz.
He was a relief operator for 10 years retiring in 1990 from Occidental Chemical. Prior to that, he worked as a tire builder for 35 years at the former Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Pottstown.
He was a member of the Firestone Retirement Club and also a life-long member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Pennsburg.
Surviving are his brother, Stanley Mikanowicz and his wife, Elizabeth of Pennsburg; three nephews, Stan Jr., Ronald and Dennis Mikanowicz.
Along with his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Jennie Virus.
A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with Rev. Robert A. Roncase officiating. Interment is in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. in the church.
