Edward J. Gerlach, Sr., 83, husband of the late Agnes Patricia (Gallagher) Gerlach, of Alburtis, died on Thursday, December 20, 2012, at Chestnut Knoll, Boyertown.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late George and Ellen (Stoltz) Gerlach.
Edward worked for the Philadelphia Carpenters Union for many years.
He was a life-long member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church and member of the Knights of Columbus and
was active in Pro-Life Movement.
Surviving are two children, Edward J. Gerlach, Jr. and wife, Kathleen E. of Kutztown and Patricia A., wife of Thomas A. Tancredi of Alburtis; a sister Ellen Gerlach of Hartley, DE; seven grandchildren, Thomas R. Tancredi, Brian E. Gerlach, Daniel E. Tancredi, Christopher P. Gerlach, David A. Tancredi, Julie E. Roeder and Edward J. Tancredi; nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. He was predeceased by a brother George Gerlach and a sister Marie Wasser.
A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 1325 Klinerd Road, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with Rev. Michael Gerlach officiating. Burial follows in Holy Cross Cemetery, Pennsburg, PA. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
