Edward H. Cressman, 76, of Telford, PA, passed away on Sunday, June 6, 2021. He left this world as he had hoped, at home and peacefully in his sleep. He was the beloved husband of Nancy J. (Faringer) Cressman.
Ed was born on March 26, 1945 in Norristown, son of the late George R. and Vera (Lashinsky) Cressman. He graduated in 1963 from Souderton Area High School and went on to earn a degree in political science from Penn State University. He also attended Villanova University Law School for two years before his commission to the US Marine Corps from 1969 to 1973, where he earned the rank of Captain. He was a member of the US Marine Reserves until his retirement in 1993 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Ed had a long and distinguished career in banking. He began his career at Continental Bank, followed by its successor Midlantic Bank, and retired as a senior vice president of Harleysville National Bank.
For many years, Ed was an active member of Old Goshenhoppen Reformed Church in Woxall, PA, where he was a member of the Finance Committee and Property Committee, and he sang in the choir. He also volunteered as a Cub Scout Master and was a member of the Marine Corps Reserve Officers’ Association as well as the Indian Valley Library Board.
In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by his children: Kate Nice and her husband Matthew; Lara Geragi and her husband Matt; and Michael Cressman; as well as his grandchildren: Josephine, George, Franklin and Elliot. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Molly Elizabeth, and his older brother, John.
Ed treasured his many friends. He always had a story to tell, and he never turned down a bourbon and ginger or a scoop of Breyers vanilla ice cream. He was an avid reader and a history buff, and he started every morning with a cup of coffee and a crossword puzzle. Ed was a devoted husband to his sweetheart, Nancy, for almost 49 years, and he deeply loved his children and grandchildren.
