Edith M. (Brey) Stevens, 89 years old, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024 at Morningside House of Blue Bell.
Born in Worcester, PA, to the late Hiram and Eva (Kline) Brey, Edith's life was one dedicated to serving others. She found immense joy in her role as a waitress at restaurants like Shupe's, Lamp Post, and Bentley's, where her warm smile and friendly demeanor brightened the days of countless patrons. Her dedication to her work was evident in the fulfillment she found from being around people and creating meaningful connections in the community.
Married to Leroy E. Stevens, for 69 years, until his passing in 2022, Edith cherished their time together and the experiences they shared traveling the country in their younger years. This adventurous spirit remained with her throughout her life, even as she enjoyed more local trips, particularly to Lancaster.
Her love for animals, particularly dogs, was immeasurable, reflecting her kind and compassionate nature. She was also an avid sports fan, and found joy in cheering on the Phillies and 76ers. Edith's loved ones held a special place in her heart, and her life was defined by her unwavering love and devotion to her family. A devoted member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, her faith was a guiding light throughout her life.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters Sheree Stevens and Shelley Baver and husband, Bruce; four grandchildren, Beth Landis, Brooke Baver, Joy Fenstermaker and Ben Baver; five great-grandchildren, Janae, Grayson, Lucy, Levi and Benny; and sisters, Esther Wood, Nancy Haas, and Judi Spivey. She is predeceased by a grandson, Cory Fenstermaker; a sister, Ellen Shellenberger; and four brothers, Hiram, William, David and Leroy Brey.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1244 St Paul’s Church Rd, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with a burial following in the church cemetery. You may visit with the family starting at 10 AM in the church auditorium. Arrangements are entrusted to Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville, PA.
