Doris Custer

April 24, 1925 — May 3, 2011

Doris F. (Miller) Custer, 86, of Church Road, East Greenville died on Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at her home. She was the wife of Richard L. Custer celebrating 20 years of marriage in November.

Born in Red Hill, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Glenna (Gerhart) Miller.

She worked at the former Styer Convalescent Home then 17 years at Knoll retiring in 1987. Following retirement she worked at Strawberry House Restaurant for many years.

She was a member of AARP and enjoyed going to Farmer’s Markets, Flea Markets and Auctions.

Surviving are her husband, Richard; two children, Dana C. Karver of Red Hill and Melanie, wife of Jan Hipszer of Anchorage, AL; two step sons, Timothy A. Custer and wife, Barbara of Boyertown and Michael A. Custer and wife, Lisa of Gilbertsville; a sister-in-law, Verna Miller of Red Hill; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by a brother, Gerald Miller.

A Graveside funeral service and interment will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday at New Goshenhoppen Cemetery, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville with Rev. Dr. Deborah Rahn Clemens officiating. A viewing will be held 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday evening at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville. Visit www.mannslonakerfuneralhome.com to offer condolences.
