Donald Owen Schlicher, 81, of Zionsville, PA, passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest after a brief illness. He was the husband of Sandra L. (Wright) Schlicher. They would have celebrated 62 years of marriage in August.
He was born in Allentown to the late Florence (Engelman) and William M. Schlicher. Donald graduated from Upper Perkiomen High School in 1960 and was active in Future Farmers of America and Vera Cruz 4-H. He was a lifelong farmer in Corning, PA. In addition to farming, earlier in his life he drove milk truck for Woodson Dairy in Red Hill, PA. He was also employed at Brown Printing for 28 years while hauling milk for Robert Borneman and Rosenberger’s Dairy.
Donald was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Old Zionsville, PA. He also enjoyed collecting John Deere model tractors. He was a lifelong member of the Two Cylinder Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Dennis W. Schlicher and wife Kelly, of Charlotte, NC; Darryl O. Schlicher and wife Carolyn, of Elizabethtown, PA and Joy E. Pritchard and husband Kevin, of Hereford, PA; brother, Dale W. Schlicher and wife Chrissie, of Cochranville, PA; eight grandchildren: Abigail Delp (Jonathan), Elisabeth Schlicher, Micaiah Schlicher (Kerri), Tabitha Hameloth (Travis), Simeon Schlicher (Elizabeth), Kellian Pritchard, Avery Schlicher and Elliott Schlicher; and three great-grandchildren: Wesley, Henry, and Isabel Delp.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, August 12, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM.
