Donald “Shad” Fox, 84, widower of Edna M. (Kuhns) Fox, of Macoby Street, Pennsburg died Wednesday, May1, 2013 at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.
Born in Pennsburg, PA, he was a son of the late Percival and Erma (Urffer) Fox.
He worked as a purchasing agent for U.S. Gauge in Sellersville for 39 years retiring in 1991. Following retirement, he was employed part-time by B & H Supermarket.
Shad was a graduate of Pennsburg High School Class of 1946 and a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, where he had previously served on the church council. He was a member and Past President of the Upper Perkiomen Valley Lions Club and received their Melvin Jones Lions Club International Award, a member of the Monday Night Men’s Bowling League at the American Legion, a former member of the Pennsburg Borough Council and volunteer at the local Senior Center. Additionally he was active on the Winsch’s Walkers Relay for Life Team, a member of the East Greenville and Pennsburg Fire Companies, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and provided student transport services for residents at Perkiomen School. He also was an avid sports fan and a Past President of the UPHS Sports Boosters.
He will be sadly missed by his three sons, Brian D. Fox and wife, Karen of Lewisburg, Gary K. Fox and wife, Lorraine of Pennsburg and Darin R. Fox and wife, Lori of Barto; six siblings, Robert Fox and wife, Millie of Florida, Harold Fox and wife, Jean of Red Hill, Margaret, wife of Leon Pennepacker, Ann Bauman and Marlene, wife of Richard Bieler all of East Greenville and Marian, wife of Roy Stevens of Pennsburg; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Along with his parents and wife, he is predeceased by a brother, Linwood and four sisters, infant, Nancy Fox, Esther Hallman, Bessie Kolb and Mary Greulich.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 81 N. Main Street, Pennsburg, PA 18073 with the Rev. Charles E. Romanowski and the Rev. William A. Fluck officiating. Interment follows in St. Mark’s Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9:30 to 11:00 a..m. on Tuesday at church prior to the funeral service.
