Diane Marie (Schoenly) Detwiler, 71, of Green Lane, was promoted to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, June 22, 2023. She was the loving wife of Gerald Detwiler, sharing 43 years of marriage.
Born in Pottstown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Naomi (Riegner) Schoenly.
Diane graduated from Grand View School of Nursing and continued her education earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Kutztown University.
During her 45-year tenure at Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, Diane served as a maternity nurse. Simultaneously, Diane was employed at Stoneridge OBGYN in Sellersville, as a registered nurse. Diane also used her passion and natural gift of serving people as a child birth educator. In all these areas, she diligently served her patients and delivering mothers with kindness, care, and compassion.
Diane was a faithful and active member of Souderton Brethren in Christ Church, where she enjoyed the fellowship and spending time with her church friends. Diane had a love for animals which presented through volunteering at Mostly Muttz Rescue in Pottstown for many years by fostering dogs and speaking to potential adopters. In her free time, you could find Diane gardening, with her hands working the earth. She loved to garden and was a member of the Perkasie Garden Club. When she was not gardening, you could find her bird watching, reading or taking care of her animals. Above all else though, Diane loved being with her family. She was a loving and kind wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a loyal sister and friend. Diane will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two children, Aaron Detwiler and wife, Morgan; and Hannah Detwiler-Erwin and husband, Bryan; one grandson, Alden Detwiler; a sister, Patricia Folk; two brothers, Lawrence “Sam” Schoenly and wife, Janet; Bruce Schoenly and wife, Deb; a niece, Rachel Folk; and a nephew, Travis Schoenly.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Friday, June 30, 2023 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA 18041 with a memorial service following the next morning, July 1, 2023 at 11 AM at Souderton Brethren in Christ Church, 494 Cherry Rd, Souderton, PA 18964.
