On Tuesday, February 8th, 2022 Debra Voege passed away at the age of 66 after battling early onset Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA. She received her BA degree in Physical Education from Ashland University and her MA in Special Education from Ohio State, where she was instrumental in advancing educational testing methods for children with special needs.
Deb devoted her life to helping those in need, especially children. She will be missed by
family, friends, colleagues and many now grown children who benefitted from her teachings and kindness. She loved her career as a Math and special education teacher at Gocio Elementary school in Sarasota, Florida and her tenure as a Principal at Horace Mann Elementary School in Warren, Ohio. Deb was a consulting author on over 30 children’s educational books in both English and Spanish.
Debra is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Frances Voege & sister Heather.
She is survived by her child Nomi (wife Niki), grandson Keegan, granddaughter Aria, sisters Kathi Harvey (Don),Gayle Buckman (Rick), brother Rob Voege (Pattie) & many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life will be March 27,2022 from 1-2 pm in the Auditorium of Wilkinson Elementary School, 3400 Wilkinson Rd., Sarasota, FL 34231.
