Dale Johnson

Dale L. Johnson, 81, of East Greenville, PA, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 2, 2020. He was the husband of Judith A. (Blough) Johnson.

He was born in Sellersville to the late Ralph H. and Ida B. (Kulp) Johnson. Dale graduate from Upper Perkiomen High School in 1956. He was employed as a kiln operator for the former America Olean Tile Company of Lansdale and Weis Markets, Pennsburg, PA before retiring.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Red Hill, PA. Dale was involved in ASA Softball for over 63 years. He began as a player for the Eagle AA and St. Paul’s teams. He was a member of the St. Paul’s team that won a State Championship in 1974. He also played out in Omaha, NE on Pennsylvania’s first ever team to play in the over 40s Master Tournament in 1990. He later became an Umpire and was inducted into the ASA Hall of Fame as player/administrator in 2004. He also enjoyed bowling in local leagues at Quakertown, Emmaus and East Greenville. He was a member of East Greenville Fire Company. Dale also loved traveling, especially to Florida and Alaska.

In addition to his wife of 59 years, he is survived by his children: Susan, wife of Kevin Jarrett, of Barto; Steven, husband of Denise Johnson and Andrew Johnson, all of Pennsburg. There are also four grandchildren: Jordan, Kellen, Tyson and Keely and 5 great-grandaughters: Kayden, Ruby, Kara, Carsyn and Theo. He was preceded in death by sons: Darryl and Bruce, and brother, Larry.

A private service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Grandview Hospice Care Fund at 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960 or St. Paul’s Church Improvement Fund, PO Box, 47, Red Hill, PA 18076.
