Clarence D. Peterson, 80, of Red Hill, died Friday, October 15, 2010 at Pennsburg Manor. He was the husband of Eva Mae (Miller) Peterson celebrating 54 years of marriage last February.
Born in Schwenksville, PA, he was a son of the late Daniel and Bernice (Bernhard) Peterson.
He worked in the press department for Sonoco Can Company for over 30 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a lifelong member of New Goshenhoppen UCC Church, East Greenville.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 184, East Greenville, VFW Post # 5954, Red Hill, Owl’s Nest # 1302 East Greenville, Pike Township Sportsman’s Association, East Greenville Fire Company, Green Lane Fire Company and Red Hill Fire Company.
Surviving along with his wife are 2 children, Randy G. Peterson and his wife, Sherry of East Greenville and Cynthia M. Bivighouse and her husband, James of Green Lane; a sister, Pauline S. Schuler and her husband, Richard P. of Pennsburg; a brother, Ray C. Peterson and his wife, Sallie of Gilbertsville; two grandchildren, Matthew Peterson and his wife, Emily of Allentown and Andrea Goryl and her husband, Benjamin of Charlotte, NC and a step-grandson, David Bivighouse, (FC-2) of Norfolk, VA. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Russell, Harold and Ralph Peterson.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville, PA 18041 with Rev. Dr. Deborah Rahn Clemens officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville and also from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday in the church.
