Clarence F. Bechtel, 92, husband of the late Fern M. (Buck) Bechtel, of Pennsburg, died April 11, 2012 at his home.
Born in Souderton, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Edna (Frederick) Bechtel Allem and stepson of the late Russell Allem.
He retired as the Harleysville Branch Claims Manager at Harleysville Insurance Companies in 1982 after working there for 31 years.
He was a longtime member of New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ. He was a 50 year member of the Perkiomen Lodge #595 F&AM and was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite Cathedral, Allentown. He was a life member of the Bally and Pennsburg Fire Companies and the Owls Nest #1302, East Greenville and a member of the the East Greenville, Red Hill and Green Lane Fire Companies and the American Legion Post #184, East Greenville where he bowled for over 50 years. He also was an avid golfer.
Surviving are a niece, Karen E., wife of Joseph S. Vitale of Bethlehem and a nephew, Clark D. Kulp and wife, Violet of Sevierville, TN. Along with his wife and parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Lilah Kulp.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at The Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA with Rev. James R. Roth officiating. Interment follows in New Goshenhoppen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. with a Masonic Service at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home.
