Beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Christine Ann (Frantz) Schoelkopf, 78, widow of J. Willard Schoelkopf, of Main Street, Red Hill, PA died Sunday, December 13, 2009 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township, PA.
Born in Lancaster, she was a daughter of the late Willis E. and Sarah J. (Haug) Frantz.
She was a 1949 graduate of McCaskey High School, Lancaster, PA. Having earned a Teaching Degree from Millersville University in 1953, she then taught at an elementary school in Carlisle for the next several years.
Having moved into the valley in 1958, Christine was very active in this community. She was a member of the Perkiomen Valley Woman’s Club, East Greenville since 1963, where she had at various times served as a director, chairman of finance and treasurer. She was an avid reader and led a book discussion group since 1996 and was a member of the Swingalong Ballroom Dancing in Perkasie, various bridge groups and St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sumneytown, PA. She was also a volunteer for the local American Cancer Society.
Surviving are three daughters, Diane W., wife of Gad Hazum of Malvern, Joann L., wife of Michael Kean of Glenolden and Donna K., wife of Peter Maltese of Silverdale and six grandchildren, Alexander and William Tankeloff, Samuel and Elizabeth Kean and Jennifer and Zachary Maltese.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2009 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA with Rev. Charles H. Eiss, Jr. officiating. Family and friends are invited to call 10 to 11 a.m. Friday morning at the funeral home.
