Catherine (Fries) Heintz, 77, of Upper Ridge Road, Perkiomenville, died suddenly Tuesday, December 21st. She was the wife of Henry R. “Hank” Heintz, Sr. celebrating 50 years of marriage on October 1, 2010.
Born in Perkiomenville, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Elsie (Bardman) Fries.
She was an employee of the US Postal Service for 20 years retiring in 1998 and served as the Postmaster at the Perkiomenville Post Office and as a clerk at the East Greenville Post Office. After retiring she worked at the Zionsville Antique Mall for the past 15 years.
She was an active and dedicated member of Frieden’s United Church of Christ, where she volunteered quite often in helping others. She will be greatly missed. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #184 Ladies Auxiliary in East Greenville.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend, who loved her cats, gardening, “feeding the hungry”, making holiday dinners for the extended family and donating a lot of time for the homeless and needy. She also enjoyed going to breakfast with her friends and taking occasional trips to the casino.
Surviving along with her husband is a son, Henry R. Heintz, Jr. of Perkiomenville and his girlfriend, Cheryl Sheeler; a daughter, Lisa A. Heintz of Perkiomenville; a sister, Pauline “Polly”, wife of Frank Periandri of Green Lane; a brother, Charles Fries and wife, Linda of Barto; Brother-in-Law, Elmer Heintz of Sumneytown; Sister-in-Law, Gertrude Schatz of Pennsburg and 9 nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Frieden’s United Church of Christ, 1011 Church Road, Sumneytown with Rev. Cheryl A. Stoneback officiating. Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at church. Arrangements are by Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, East Greenville.
