Carolyn B. (Sacks) Slonaker, 86, widow of Russell C. Slonaker, of Shippingport, PA and formerly of Allentown, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at her daughter’s home.
Born in Woxall, PA, she was a daughter of the late J. Wright and Carrie (Young) Sacks.
She worked for about 25 years before retiring in 1988 for Lighting Fixture and Supply Co. in Allentown.
She was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church, Niantic. She also was a member of the Whitehall and Lehigh County Senior Citizens Centers where she enjoyed running trips for them and traveling.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Patricia C. Lampe and husband, Paul of Shippingport; three sisters, Evelyn Paul of Lewisburg and Marion Horner and Nancy Sacks, both of Whitehall; three grandchildren, Sherri Tellish and husband, Robert of Hookstown, Vicki Gielata and husband, Kevin of Raccoon Township and Jeffrey Lampe and wife, Rebecca of Industry and six great grandchildren, Caleb, Jared, Micah and Charity Tellish and Isaac and Lucas Gielata. Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by a daughter, Sharon L. Slonaker, a brother, Wright L. Sacks and a sister, Kathryn Kibblehouse.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday at Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Barto 19504 with the Rev. Matthew Ollikainen officiating. Burial follows in the church cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday evening at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville and also from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at church.
