Betty H. (Shafer) Schantz 72, of East Greenville and Wyalusing, PA died Thursday, February 9, 2012 at St. Luke’s Quakertown Hospital. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Schantz who passed away on September 3, 1997.
Born in Mountain Top, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Helen J. (Kirkhuff) Shafer.
She worked in manufacturing as an Optical Glass Specialist for Plummer Precision Optics for 33 years, retiring in 1994.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending her time with family. She was a beloved family member and will be greatly missed.
Surviving are a son, Robert B. Schantz and wife, Sue Hallock of Wyalusing, Bradford County, PA; a daughter, Donna L. Collis and husband, Bill Moyer of East Greenville, PA; grandchildren, Tiffany, Gregory, Robert, Kelsey and Shelby; one great grandchild on the way; and her beloved pet dog, Molly.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2012 at Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington St., East Greenville, PA with the Rev. Charles E. Romanowski officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Pennsburg, PA. A viewing will be from 10 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday in the funeral home.
Family and friends are invited to a luncheon immediately following the committal service at the Red Hill Fire Company Social Hall.
